General Discussion / ST4 Port
« on: September 27, 2019, 17:09:32 »
Hi Tom
I have some questions about ST4
1-   In order to use ST4 connector, if I am right, you need to connect JP1 and JP2. What is the purpose of these JPs? Why didn’t you make the footprint of these four connections by default?
2-   On ST4 (1), what is the (IO0) for?
3-   Let say telescope is tracking at sidereal speed. If I connect JP1 (RA+) directly to GND, the telescope would go faster to west? Or do I need any other connection and/or action?
Thanks for your help and your patient.

Hi Tom.
I have some questions about the subject.
When I had an 1.8º AR motor, and I load the “EQ5-Custom Pulley.conf” file, I got the following Window (first picture). In the message area, everything seams ok.

Now I have installed an 0,9º NEMA17 AR motor. Now the AR axis moves much better than with the NEMA14 motor.
But, when I click on “update”, I get the following window (second picture) with these warning messag-es.
Tom, I don’t understand the meaning of the warnings, could you help me?
What is the “IVal”?

General Discussion / AR and DEC motors move the double
« on: September 18, 2019, 00:31:53 »
Hi everyone
Yesterday my EQ5 with AstroEQ,  a NEMA14 (1.8º) and NEMA17(0.9º), was behaving well. The gotos were good enough and so the tracking.
Today, with no change that I am aware of, although the tracking is ok, the goto goes double the angle than it should, in AR and in DEC.
I am not able to find the problem. Somebody could help me

On the other hand, when I try to Calibrate with PHD2, AR axel does not move at all, so the calibration fails.
Thanks a lot

General Discussion / Skipping steps in AR Motor
« on: September 10, 2019, 17:06:26 »
Hi everyone.
I am having problems with skipping steps in AR motor.
My system is an EQ5 (brand new) and a Reflector 130/900 with only a 5 kg counterweight.
I have installed two NEMA 14 steppers motors.
Everything is balanced.
I have tried to solve the problem increasing the current limit, but as the current goes up, the problem gets better, but not enough.
I have also tried decreasing the goto speed. Again, the problem gets better but it does not disappear.  In fat even at tracking speed the AR motor skips steps, mainly when the counterweight rod is close to the horizontal position.
I have thought in changing the AR motor by a NEMA17.
Have anyone  got the same problem?
Kind regards.

AstroEQ Support / USB not working
« on: July 21, 2019, 16:39:51 »
Dear Tom.
I have bought one of your AstroEQ devices a few days ago.
I have already soldered an connected everything, but I’m having problems connecting the USB.
When I connect the USB to the computer, the LED starts blinking for a few seconds, and the new USB device appears detected in the Windows 10 Device Manager, BUT.
After a few seconds, de LED remains ON (not blinking), and the new USB device, disappears from the Device Manager, making impossible to go on.
Please, I need some help
Kind regards.
