Title: AstroEQ with a fork mount?
Post by: DavidG on October 22, 2014, 23:39:28
Hi,

Does the AstroEQ support a fork mount (no meridian flip routine) ?

If not, are there any plans to possibly implement this in the next firmware? EQMOD in itself does not support a fork mount, but it would open many new opportunities if you can implement this - and I would buy one as soon as it is available :).

Thanks,
-David

Hi David,

AstroEQ is pretty much at the mercy of EQMOD, it moves where it is told. I'm not entirely sure of the differences between what EQMOD will make a fork mount do and what it actually needs to do, and then on top of that I am not sure if it would be possible to get the mount to move in a way EQMOD was not expecting whilst still making it think it is in the right place.

I know this is a very old post but you may still be interested. Have a look at this link it looks like these folks have done a patch for EQMOD to lock the pier, to prevent a meridian flip. In the meantime I intend to try this with my home grown fork mount using the Astro EQ and EQMOD.

Hi DavidG, has you success in trying to use AstroEQ to control a fork mount? I would like to control a Dobsonian mount in an equatorial wedge with AstroEQ.
